Funding Resources for Virtual Care
State of California 2021 Budget Act Funds
The State of California 2021 Budget Act provided funds for student mental health care to all California community colleges through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. A virtual health and well-being program through TimelyCare is an authorized use of these funds that lays the foundation for a sustainable solution to meet the needs of students for years to come.
Grants
There are federal agencies, private foundations, corporations, and associations that may offer support for programs that provide student support services to improve college completion and academic success.
HEERF Funds
Emergency relief funds for higher education are the latest example of a federal funding source that can be used to cover the cost of a virtual care program. And these funds can be directly applied to cover the cost of virtual health and well-being services for students.
Student Health Services Fee
This type of fee—common at many institutions—ensures that valuable health services for students can be maintained year over year. Creating, using, or making an incremental adjustment to a Student Health Services Fee can easily break apart or subsidize the cost of a virtual care program. Plus, this fee is regularly more affordable than a visit to urgent care, the ER, or an insurance copay.

Creative Solutions
If none of the funding options are available to your institution, TimelyCare’s higher education experts can work with you to identify ways to fund a virtual health and well-being program. In fact, Diablo Valley College worked with its students to be able to fund its TimelyCare program. What California Community Colleges Need to Know About the Prop 98 General Fund
