As higher ed continues to transform in response to COVID-19, faculty and staff must be prepared with new plans, strategies and programs to help students thrive. That’s why TimelyCare, the nation’s leading telehealth provider specializing in higher education, is launching SuccessNow—a 24/7 support service for faculty and staff on how to help students achieve a sense of well-being and live healthy lifestyles.
With licensed providers in all 50 states, seven days a week, this new service offering is available at no cost to faculty and staff at TimelyCare’s partner schools.
“One of our primary goals at TimelyCare is to help our campuses with overall health and wellness of students,” said Dr. Alan Dennington, chief medical officer at TimelyCare. “We want to equip campuses with tools to help achieve this goal.”
Getting started with SuccessNow
So, how does SuccessNow work? A faculty or staff member can create an account and use the service if they are concerned about a student’s:
- Health or well-being.
- Uncharacteristic grades.
- Overall declining performance or engagement.
“Faculty and staff serve an important role in mentoring students,” said TimelyCare executive director of mental health Dr. Jan Hall. “As concerns with students come up, SuccessNow is a resource these leaders can turn to for support as they help guide students through the college experience.”
TimelyCare’s team of providers collaborates with the faculty or staff member to develop a strategy on how to best watch out for the interests of a specific student, which may include referring him or her to the school’s telehealth program or other campus resources. Advocating for a student’s health and well-being can help address physical or mental health issues before they become critical.
The role of faculty and staff in student health and well-being
“SuccessNow can play a key role in helping students develop life skills and become successful well beyond their college years,” said Dr. Hall.
COVID-19 has forced many students into a new reality of remote learning and unique stressors. Recent data reveals that one in four students say their depression has significantly increased during the pandemic. So, higher ed leaders need to adjust to this reality with new strategies on how to support students, as student health and wellness take on an even higher priority.
This new service offering provides support for faculty and staff navigating a new normal with students who may be dispersed across the country or going through a different campus experience in a socially distanced classroom.
A comprehensive care solution for campus
SuccessNow is exclusive to TimelyCare’s Campus.Complete program—the most comprehensive program for student wellness. The program serves as a cost-effective, high-quality extension of current on-campus services. Or, when a school does not have existing healthcare services, Campus.Complete can fill the campus’ need for student access to no-cost health and wellness services. The services offered with the Campus.Complete program include medical, TalkNow (on-demand emotional support), scheduled counseling, psychiatry, health coaching services, and SuccessNow.
“SuccessNow is another tool in our TimelyCare toolbelt to help students get the care they need and put them in positions for success,” said Dr. Dennington. “With preventative care and helping students address concerns earlier, you’ll develop a healthier campus.”
