(FORT WORTH, Texas) – The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has invited TimelyMD, the leading virtual health and well-being solution in higher education, to join its corporate council.
As a corporate council member, TimelyMD will contribute its expertise in providing students with equitable, on-demand medical care, mental health counseling and basic needs services to the 6,500 trustees, presidents and other leaders who make decisions for the nation’s community and technical colleges.
TimelyMD is trusted to care for over a million students – including one in every 10 community college students – at more than 200 colleges and universities nationwide. As community college leaders seek solutions that improve student well-being, engagement and retention, they turn to TimelyMD more than anyone else for its award-winning TimelyCare platform with licensed providers available 24/7 in all 50 states.
“TimelyMD is honored to support the ACCT’s mission of promoting high quality and affordable higher education, cutting-edge workforce and development training, student success, and the opportunity for all individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency and security,” said Becky Laman, SVP of Growth Strategy and Partnerships at TimelyMD. “Our vision at TimelyMD is to empower students to be well and thrive. Helping students overcome the barriers they face in school and in life is a critically important first step, and we are committed to tackling these and other important issues in partnership with the governing body of U.S. community colleges.”
According to a recent TimelyMD survey, 7 out of 10 community college students experienced stress and/or anxiety due to a lack of basic needs. With student success in mind, Laman and Dr. Van Wilson, Interim Senior Vice Chancellor, Academic and Workforce Programs at Virginia’s Community Colleges, will lead a session on “Equitable Access to Care: Addressing the Urgency of Student Mental Health and Basic Needs” at the 2022 ACCT Leadership Congress in October.
“ACCT and our member colleges throughout the country are dedicated to meeting the needs of community college students,” said Jee Hang Lee, ACCT president and CEO. “Too many students are unable to continue or complete their educational pathways because of circumstances beyond their control that affect their health and well-being. We are excited to introduce our member institutions to innovative solutions such as the ones provided by TimelyMD so that students will have the best possible opportunities to succeed.”
