TimelyCare Helps Tidewater "Build a Culture of Care"

With only referral-based community resources for mental health, Tidewater Community College needed to ease the burden on its Student Resource and Empowerment Center by addressing key challenges, including:

  • Lack of access to mental health providers
  • Students’ need for in-the-moment support
  • Access to care that ensures students get the right level of care at the right time
Read the Case Study

By partnering with TimelyCare, Tidewater Community College expanded students’ access to the 24/7, in-the-moment care to help its campus thrive.

What Campus Leaders and Students
Say About TimelyCare

John Maduko
President, Connecticut State Community College
Connecticut State Community College
“It was a no-brainer to make that institutional investment. The numbers speak for themselves. The mental health challenges and insecurities had already existed. Covid-19 exacerbated them but also forced higher education, higher education leaders and practitioners to pay closer attention. We cannot simply ignore what our students are facing.”

“I have used this service several times. I work two jobs and go to school. My life is high stress, but I do not have time to have a regularly scheduled counseling appointment. This service is invaluable to me!”
Jeanne Natali
Director Student Resource and Empowerment Center, Tidewater Community College
Tidewater Community College
“One thing that TimelyCare does really well is it helps students to think intentionally about self-care. When we graduate a student, we want to graduate the whole student, not just a student who’s academically prepared, but a student who is prepared to go into the workplace.”
Student

“I really enjoy how smooth, easy, and convenient it was to use this app. I found myself sick during finals and with limited time to make a visit to my doctor. I was able to download the app, talk to the doctor, and get my meds within a little over an hour. Great experience.”

“I’m a mom, a full-time student … TimelyCare really helped, because medical bills can set you back a lot financially. I didn’t have to pay out of pocket for anything. What worked best for me was the convenience of it.”
Kim Behrens, MSN, RN
Associate Dean, Health Careers, Porterville College
Porterville College
“TimelyCare was the perfect answer to our needs. It is affordable for a community college campus that has very limited resources. TimelyCare provides students 24/7 access to both medical and mental health services.”
Emily Stone
Dean, Counseling and Student Success, Diablo Valley College
Diablo Valley College
“When we cannot serve students’ brief therapy needs, we refer students to TimelyCare’s TalkNow on-demand emotional support. It has been a lifeline for our team to have this resource to offer students.”

Personalized Care for Your Campus

Research shows that a lack of representation in health care providers can lead to negative health outcomes. And, while a study from the Journal of Adolescent Health found that 40% of Black college students requested campus health services, only 11.7% of the campus counseling center staff across the country are Black.

With over 50% of our provider network identifying as people of color, TimelyCare is committed to offering college students, faculty, and staff a provider network that reflects your campus. And with TimelyCare’s scheduled mental health and medical visits, students are able to select the provider they want to get the care that they need.
